The Dramatic Monologue, Poetry Masterclass with Judith Beveridge, postponed to 30/11/23 – tickets released Sept
Sorry… this masterclass was postponed and the new date is 30/11/23
Tickets available in September
The dramatic monologue has been around for centuries; it is the second oldest form of poetry after the epic. The dramatic monologue challenges the poet to be imaginative, empathetic and inventive because it requires adopting a persona or mask to explore and expose feelings which the poet may feel uncomfortable exploring when using their own voice. Characters can be taken from history or can be entirely made up. This workshop will look at poems which use dramatic monologue in interesting and diverse ways. We will also do a writing exercise around creating character.
