Crafting an Award-winning Poem, Malika Booker 27/11 /24

Malika Booker, the only woman (or non-binary person) to win the UK Forward Prize for Best Single Poem twice, will generously share the creative and editing processes behind her poem, “Little Miracles.” which won the 2020 Forward Prize.

You will be able to examine the drafts and evolution of this  highly awarded poem and gain rare insight into how it was conceived, refined and completed. You’ll receive copies of early drafts and the final poem prior to the workshop.

This poem was also a collaborative commission, and hence the discussion will also give you insight into approaching collaborations and commissions. Magma magazine commissioned the poem as collaboration with Lowri Dowthwaite, a lecturer in Psychological Interventions at the University of Central Lancashire.

Spend an inspiring session with the exceptional  poetic energy and wisdom of Malika Booker. These are small groups (one screen) and so there will plenty of opportunity to ask questions about Malika’s process during the workshop.
